What do feel about the trip and why do you feel that way?

To say the truth, i dont really feel very confident about the trip. why do i feel this way? firstly, this is the first time i am embarking on a service learning trip, and i feel very uncomfortable in a foreign country by myself. secondly, the trip is set during august, in which school lessons are still continuing as normal. since the start of sec3, i have not been doing well in my studies, and this affects me alot as i am afraid not to be able to pass the year end exams well. thirdly, as there is a finance crisis now, i am very concerned about the costs of the trip as i really do not want to burden my parents.


What are your personal goals for the trip?

as this is only the start of the service learning trip, there is not much i know what i should achieve, less say my personal goals. but i'm sure as time goes by, i'll figure out my goals.

What does success mean to you?
sucess to me means fufilling one's dreams and live the way he wanted. it also means helping people to live better with your own help and surpport.

Albert Einstein

background and biography:
Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich, where he later on began his schooling at the Luitpold Gymnasium. Later, they moved to Italy and Albert continued his education at Aarau, Switzerland and in 1896 he entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1901, the year he gained his diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, as he was unable to find a teaching post, he accepted a position as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office. In 1905 he obtained his doctor's degree.

Why is he successful?
i think he is successful because he has appeared to have a clear view of the problems of physics and the determination to solve them. He had a strategy of his own and was able to visualize the main stages on the way to his goal.

How has he inspired me?
he has inspired me to work harder and pursue for the best. he thinks that achievements are just stepping-stones for the next advance, and i think that it is very true.

my father

background and biography:
my father is born in 1962. his occupation now is a hawker. when he was young, his family was very poor and hardly could support all the children to have a decent education. my father, being the third eldest in the family, had the duty of helping my grandmother to manage the stall. he gave up education when he was 11 because he thought that he was not meant for studying and that instead of using money to pay for his education, he would rather use the money to support his siblings in education.

why is he successful?
i think he is successful now because he is a responsible man who surpports my family and his mother. he can manage his finances well and i think he is wise in terms of coming to a decision.

how he has inspired you?
he has inspired me to work hard and not give up easily when i face difficulties. he has also made me understand that education is extremely important and that i must do well in my studies so as to get a good job in future.

How can this programme help you to get closer to your goals?
i think this programme trains me become a better person with outstanding qualities. it also trains me become more confident in making my choices.

*what does scholarship mean to me?
basically, i tink scholarship means devotion to studies and persevering for what we want. we have to put our heart and soul in the task we're given because we are the chosen people with 'hidden talents' lying deep within ourselves. to unleash that potential within us, we have to work much more harder than the others because we have the ability and oppurtunity to do so. scholarship is a form of encouragement and defination to me.
for example, being chosen as a scholar, one will have a feeling of accomplishment and motivation to work harder to excel.

of cause, that's my defination of scholarship. i believe that it means more than this ;D


*what responsibility does a scholar have?
a scholar must be hardworking and willing to provide service for the others. more importantly, a scholar have to work hard and excel in whatever she is doing so as to make full use of the opportunity being chosen


*what are some of the obstacles you think you will face?
there will, of cause, be many probelms lying ahead of me. but i think the biggest problem i will face is the ability to communicate and work along with my friends. another problem is that i lack the ability to control my impulsivity and tend to do things rashly


*is a scholar also a leader? how so?
i dont really think that a scholar is also a leader. reason being, is because their way of life is different? a leader leads and serves but a scholar devotes and solve problems. they may be similar in some way but i think the the difference is in their abilities. a scholar gives me an impression of being a silent worker but a leader gives me an impression of being high and mighty, leading people. =/


*who and how do you intend to serve as a scholar?
frankly speaking, i dont really intend to serve as a scholar. yes, you may think i am selfish but actually, i dont actually 'serve' as a very loyal person. instead, i prefer to help quietly and do what is expected of me.
for example, if a student approaches me for help, i will try my best to help him/her solve their problems and let them have chances to speak up for themselves.

ISFJs are characterized above all by their desire to serve others, their "need to be needed." In extreme cases, this need is so strong that standard give-and-take relationships are deeply unsatisfying to them; however, most ISFJs find more than enough with which to occupy themselves within the framework of a normal life. (Since ISFJs, like all SJs, are very much bound by the prevailing social conventions, their form of "service" is likely to exclude any elements of moral or political controversy; they specialize in the local, the personal, and the practical.)
ISFJs are often unappreciated, at work, home, and play. Ironically, because they prove over and over that they can be relied on for their loyalty and unstinting, high-quality work, those around them often take them for granted--even take advantage of them. Admittedly, the problem is sometimes aggravated by the ISFJs themselves; for instance, they are notoriously bad at delegating ("If you want it done right, do it yourself"). And although they're hurt by being treated like doormats, they are often unwilling to toot their own horns about their accomplishments because they feel that although they deserve more credit than they're getting, it's somehow wrong to want any sort of reward for doing work (which is supposed to be a virtue in itself). (And as low-profile Is, their actions don't call attention to themselves as with charismatic Es.) Because of all of this, ISFJs are often overworked, and as a result may suffer from psychosomatic illnesses.
In the workplace, ISFJs are methodical and accurate workers, often with very good memories and unexpected analytic abilities; they are also good with people in small-group or one-on-one situations because of their patient and genuinely sympathetic approach to dealing with others. ISFJs make pleasant and reliable co-workers and exemplary employees, but tend to be harried and uncomfortable in supervisory roles. They are capable of forming strong loyalties, but these are personal rather than institutional loyalties; if someone they've bonded with in this way leaves the company, the ISFJ will leave with them, if given the option. Traditional careers for an ISFJ include: teaching, social work, most religious work, nursing, medicine (general practice only), clerical and and secretarial work of any kind, and some kinds of administrative careers.
While their work ethic is high on the ISFJ priority list, their families are the centers of their lives. ISFJs are extremely warm and demonstrative within the family circle--and often possessive of their loved ones, as well. When these include Es who want to socialize with the rest of the world, or self-contained ITs, the ISFJ must learn to adjust to these behaviors and not interpret them as rejection. Being SJs, they place a strong emphasis on conventional behavior (although, unlike STJs, they are usually as concerned with being "nice" as with strict propriety); if any of their nearest and dearest depart from the straight-and-narrow, it causes the ISFJ major embarrassment: the closer the relationship and the more public the act, the more intense the embarrassment (a fact which many of their teenage children take gleeful advantage of). Over time, however, ISFJs usually mellow, and learn to regard the culprits as harmless eccentrics :-). Needless to say, ISFJs take infinite trouble over meals, gifts, celebrations, etc., for their loved ones--although strong Js may tend to focus more on what the recipient should want rather than what they do want.
Like most Is, ISFJs have a few, close friends. They are extremely loyal to these, and are ready to provide emotional and practical support at a moment's notice. (However, like most Fs they hate confrontation; if you get into a fight, don't expect them to jump in after you. You can count on them, however, run and get the nearest authority figure.) Unlike with EPs, the older the friendship is, the more an ISFJ will value it. One ISFJ trait that is easily misunderstood by those who haven't known them long is that they are often unable to either hide or articulate any distress they may be feeling. For instance, an ISFJ child may be reproved for "sulking," the actual cause of which is a combination of physical illness plus misguided "good manners." An adult ISFJ may drive a (later ashamed) friend or SO into a fit of temper over the ISFJ's unexplained moodiness, only afterwards to explain about a death in the family they "didn't want to burden anyone with." Those close to ISFJs should learn to watch for the warning signs in these situations and take the initiative themselves to uncover the problem.

Very in-tune with their surroundings - excellent sense of space and function

Take their responsibilities seriously
Extremely uncomfortable with conflict and confrontation

ISFJs have two basic traits which help define their best career direction: 1) they are extremely interested and in-tune with how other people are feeling, and 2) they enjoy creating structure and order, and are extremely good at it. Ideally, the ISFJ will choose a career in which they can use their exceptional people-observation skills to determine what people want or need, and then use their excellent organizational abilities to create a structured plan or environment for achieving what people want. Their excellent sense of space and function combined with their awareness of aesthetic quality also gives them quite special abilities in the more practical artistic endeavors, such as interior decorating and clothes design.

through this test, i think i have found out more about myself, including the way i think and act. one interesting that i have found out about myself through this test is that i tend to be a loyal friend and is willing to give support to people who needs it. i tend to be emotional and keep more to myself and to people who dont really know me well, they may think of me as a 'anti-social' person.

my motivations and personality:

friends are the people who brings joy and colours to my life. they protect me, help me, care for me, and supports me. that's why they motivates me. (afterall, you wont bear to disappoint people who cares for you yeah?) without them, my life would be dull, like they dark grey sky beyond beautiful sunlight.

music is what inspires me. music produces melodious harmony between the vocals and the background music (instruments). a singer has to be aware of the different beats and volume so that he/she can coordinate properly with the music. and that's what i like about music most. it reminds me to control my pace of life so that it will be just nice for people around me. it also reminds me of teamwork and perseverence. (you must know that it is not easy for one to control his vocal and coordinations in a song) also, music helps me to relax and control my emotions.

japan is my dream country. perhaps it will be weird to think that japan is one of my motivations, but it really is! the reason is, japanese is a language that i like most (weird enough?) i always ask myself: why cant i be born in japan instead of singapore? (and i finally know the answer) the reason god created me in singapore is because he wants me to push and excel in life. only this, i have the oppotunity to visit and see the world. that includes japan of cause =)

my personlity...(whats so good about me?) i think myself as a person who is strong willed. i want to save the earth. i know (from geog lessons) that pollution is a very serious problem in earth. i really hate man sometimes. why do we always create things that harms the environment? we should not be so SELFISH. so, i'm inspired to save the earth! and that includes reducing the consumption for electricity. (does that mean that i do not have to do blogging for XSP anymore? laughs)

my strengths and weaknesses:

strengths...kind loyal faithful caring careful. i'm okay with anyone, and i dont mind being their friend as long as they are truthful and honest with me. (is that considered a strength? laughs.)

weakness... EMOTIONAL unfriendly(sometimes) slow clueless lazy react worngly at a wrong time.

likes and dislikes:

LIKES: music, anime, japan, potato chips, talking, laughing for no reason, funny things, 204, getting scolding from mummy. let me elaborate more...i really like potato chips. i hope i dont get fat though. talking is a MUST for me. MUSIC is a MUST MUST for me. i have to listen to music for at least 2hrs daily =) laughing for no reason is also a favourite action of mine. i love to laugh like crazy with my friends. i'm laughing now XD. LAUGHTER is the best medication for emotional. animes are necessary to keep my life going. i will die if animes didnt exist. JAPAN....you know it already... funny things. related to laughter. 204. I LOVE MY CLASS. i like getting scolding from mummy because i know that she cares for me. she tries her best to keep me going and her scolding makes me want to work harder (come'on...who never gets scoldings in their life...)

DISLIKES: things that i'm not okay with. well...i dont really have dislikes for things unless it really makes me irritated

what's so interesting about me? something interesting about me is that like interesting people. laughs. sorry. that was a cold joke.

now to the serious part. i find myself interesting because i have split personalities. i can be really hardworking sometimes. especially during the exams period. on the contary, i can be really lazy sometimes and laze around for the whole day without doing anything.another thing interesting about me is that i find myself humourous although people say i look serious. i think that my motivations come from funny places, and thats what makes me interesting. i am curious about everything. i always want to get to the bottom of everything before i manage to sleep peacefully.
